Outdoor Lights Adds Practical Ambience to Outdoor Living

With the warm summer months upon us, the perfect time for late night gatherings is here! Cold drinks and delicious food are sure to keep all of your friends satisfied; but don’t stop there! Keep the conversations flowing by adding finishing touches to your party or get together.

Outdoor lighting adds ambience and practicality to your outdoor setting. There are so many options available, from festive string lights to dramatic tiki torches. Outdoor string lights can run on solar, electric or batteries. When shopping, look for bulbs that are easy to replace if you intend to use them for more than one season. If electrical, make sure they are UL listed. UL refers to Underwriter’s Laboratories, an organization that approves electrical equipment for safety.

String lights are an easy way to add lighting and ambience to your entire outdoor living room. They come in numerous styles and colors, from simple, elegant hanging bulbs to whimsical figures, such as chili peppers, fireflies or mini-umbrellas.

Remember to coordinate your lighting to your outdoor chair cushions. If your outdoor cushions feature many colors, choose the least dominant color for your lights; this will help draw out the color. If you have solid-colored outdoor chair cushions, look for swirling patterns, fun shapes or multicolored lights. If your outdoor pillows and cushions are neutral in tone and your furniture is sophisticated, consider string lights with clear bulbs that emit a golden glow. The warm will accent your outdoor furniture cushions while adding a sophisticated look to your outdoor room.

No matter what you choose, have fun! The options are endless. Your guests will appreciate lighting for its ambience as well as its illumination.
